Each MPR Jewelry by Meghan Patrice Riley piece is fabricated by hand in the MPR Atelier in Brooklyn, New York by trained artists and metalsmiths. Mixing metals with textile techniques, I experiment with classic, elementary materials like our classic nylon-coated stainless steel cable wire mixed with fine metals and semi-precious stones to reinterpret them to create sculptural, contemporary jewelry that is feminine, luxurious, and alluring as well as engineered for wearability and durability.

We work with nylon-coated stainless-steel cable that is coated in fine metals like 24k yellow gold and sterling silver. This little cable looks like a wire but is actually 49 miniature wires woven together to make a monofilament-like miniature stainless steel cable that is soft like a textile but has a super strong core of steel. The fabrication process of the cable is similar to that of cables for suspension bridges which are engineered to move with the shifting plates of the earth so as to not collapse but sway with movement. I then add little square connectors and findings of 14k gold fill and sterling silver with touches of semi-precious stones which makes these pieces hypoallergenic and luxe. The collections look ultra-dainty and are extremely lightweight (great for earrings!) but can be crushed and bounce back into shape because of the properties of the cable. The jewelry collections offered are truly unique, thoughtful, handcrafted and, most of all, wearable.
